Fashion Gone Wild

Animal prints date all the way back to Ancient times when Egyptian artisans would use leopard skin for linens and furnishings for the pharaohs. As something considered luxury and exotic, real animal skins became a symbol of wealth and were used by nobility and others of high social status to show their social standing. In the 1950s and ‘60s, these prints were a hot trend being worn by celebrities like Eartha Kitt and Rosalind Russel.

Today, animal-inspired prints and skins can be seen on many celebrities from the Kardashians to Beyonce (i.e., Black is King) and who can forget 2020’s breakout reality star, Joe Exotic. And the inspiration is definitely trending into this Fall season, continuing our fascination with looks that are fun and lavish.

Former fashion designer and Project Runway star Suede says,

“For a POW and a WOW try a statement piece in animal print. A high Zebra print boot with your chicest cream jacket, blouse, and dark jean. Or maybe a statement purse to ROCK your Black cropped biker with a wide leg pant and textured top. No matter where you throw in the animal print let it be the statement piece while you shine!”

From sweaters and workout wear to accessories and home goods, prints can be seen in almost every category and price point. Check out some amazing animal-inspired styles here.
