WOLK MORAIS PREMIERES COLLECTION 9 FILM “DRIVEN” DURING NEW YORK FASHION WEEK,
WINS TOP HONOR AT LONDON FASHION FILM FESTIVAL STYLED BY ELIZABETH STEWART
A testament to the unbreakable community of Los Angeles, especially during these most uncertain times the fashion industry is facing, designer duo, Wolk Morais presented their ninth collection in the form of a short film entitled “DRIVEN.” Instead of doing the traditional runway images to showcase this collection, Wolk Morais wanted to convey the enduring and resilient spirit of Hollywood.
“Los Angeles has been the lead character for our creative journey thus far. For Collection 9, we felt compelled to feature the city as the backdrop for our film and share the voices of the community that inspire our work in this incredible moment of change” said Brian Wolk and Claude Morais.
Using their signature tailoring, the designers created moving silhouettes that had been used by the studio designers of old Hollywood. The construction and textiles of Collection 9 pay homage to the silent film era and each piece are completely sustainable, locally sourced, and created of upcycled textiles.
As you watch the film there is a feeling of invigoration for the innovation, modernity yet keeping with the originality of fashion from old Hollywood glamour. Each section of the film in which they showed the collection was a direct correlation of a specific characteristic style from this unique era.
Because of the creativity of “DRIVEN”, it received the top honor this weekend at the London Fashion Film Festival, taking home the Best Fashion Film Award. The full ceremony is now available to view HERE
