Fall Winter 2023 Sexy, Simple, Statements… Delivered with Drama

The Fall Winter 2023 collection from Chiara Boni was presented with drama, with Coco Rocha at the center of the show. Artistry was present in a number of ways, the show opened to a vocal presentation followed by Coco Rocha opening the show. For certain looks, models would pause mid-runway and pose with each other. The color palette was rather restricted, the predominant color being black, with a hot pink, metallics, and gray. The textures and materials did vary, with an especially impressive number of (faux) leather pieces, as well as sequinned and treated fabrics.

The looks for FW23 balanced structure with edge. Suiting would be paired with long leather gloves. Velvet, leather, and sheer material were all leveraged to take classic elements of fall and winter fashion to a new and modern level. The most extraordinary look was modeled by Coco Rocha mid-show, a (faux) leather corset top, coupled with a maxi skirt with a high slit and a train. The designer confirmed that the skirt was jersey, yet it looked like water.

The (faux) leather was a standout in the collection, an example of how an accessory, or a texture, can take a simpler look to a higher level. The trend of suiting was seen in the collection, with sequins, yet, not as exciting as other looks in the collection. The final two looks were both remarkable, both gown. The first of the final two, as a more conservative dress, with a ruffled cape that had a lining of hot pink that contrasted against the black dress. The second was a hot pink sequined evening gown that showed exceptional skill in draping and structure.

This collection was classic, yet modern. The level of attention to detail and artistry in the production of the runway show also deserves mention. Coco Rocha performed incredibly, as expected. While some of the looks were quality, but not extraordinary, the standout pieces were truly exceptional. This show stood out as one of top shows attended for FW NYC 2023.

Positive Standouts

Hooded gowns, Jersey made to look like water, Faux leather, Crystal studded birdcage veils.
