Vivienne Westwood is an Icon of fashion, and at Paris Fashion Week (PFW) she did not disappoint with her latest collection
Filled with her classic corseting and feminine flowing fabrics, models wore a neutral palette with pops of colour throughout the presentation. This season the designer mixed both hard and soft fabrics, with PVC jackets juxtaposed with blowing white dresses.
Corset mini dresses were mixed in with draped midi and maxi styles, all with the distinct Vivienne Westwood pirate feel. A personal favourite look was a pink skirt suit, which came with a fabulous feathered hat, and white ankle boots.
Overall, another fantastic collection from the queen of fashion.
Valentino Spring 2022
Valentino is what you want to wear in a post-pandemic world. For Spring 2022 Pierpaolo Piccioli created an other worldly mixed with streetwear vibe.
As seen in Vivienne Westwood’s show, fabrics were mixed and complimented one another no end. Blue denim jeans were paired with embroidered white coats and light white shirts, paired with flat studded sandals. While dresses were a mix of short and sleek, and maxi and flowing, perfect for summer evenings in Roma!
The brands iconic studded shoes also took centre stage, in varied forms, along with edgy ‘rock star’ make up. Brown tones were mixed up with bright jewel tones, ideal for a world in recovery.
As always Valentino did not disappoint and the mix between ethereal and rocker will certainly make you yearn for a red carpet event!
Balenciaga Spring 2022
Balenciaga are always changing and evolving. We’ve seen them make the ‘dad trainer’ something that everyone doesn’t just want but need. And this show was certainly something to be watched.
Foregoing the traditional runway show, Baleciaga had its guests gather at the Theatre Du Chatelet to watch its models arrive on a red carpet for a very special screening. What was that screening you ask? A special episode of The Simpsons where Homer, Marge and other residents of Springfield travelled to Paris to walk the runway for the innovative fashion brand.
Oversized was key, big shoulders, big shoes and big hat. Draped in black, with the occasional sprig of colour, and occasional silver dress cropping up.
There is something quite different about Balenciaga, and that is something that will keep them in the eye of the fashion storm for years to come.
