DILLON FRANCIS TAPS LONGSTORYSHORT FOR OFFICIAL “PRETTY PEOPLE” REMIX

A month following the release of Dillon Francis’s latest hit, “Pretty People,” alongside Turkish star INJI, the renowned DJ, producer, and songwriter call on flourishing NYC-based producer longstoryshort for remix duties. The project arrives on the heels of longstoryshort’s first offerings of the year, “Still Here,” a collaboration with Blossom, and his 3-track HER EP which landed on Thrive Music and Lost In Dreams/Insomniac respectively in early spring. The official remix reaches new heights with longstoryshort’s hard-hitting cinematic bass touch. “Pretty People (longstoryshort Remix)” is out now and available to stream across all platforms via Universal Music.

Dillon Francis and INJI made waves with the release of “Pretty People,” which was taken from Francis’s forthcoming This Mixtape Is Fire TOO, a sequel to 2015’s This Mixtape Is Fire. Now, longstoryshort joins an already impressive lineup of remixers, including Knock2 and Zomboy, with his high-octane rework of the driving dance-pop anthem. The remix features the rising producer’s signature blend of immersive cinematic bass that has landed him remixes for some of dance music’s most in-demand artists, such as WHIPPED CREAM, Kill The Noise, Mija, Doctor P, and more.

“I was honored when Dillon hit me to remix Pretty People and have a chance to add my production. I wanted to make something that hits hard and takes the song to a different place.”

A true musical storyteller, longstoryshort has continuously proven his acute ability to engage his curatorial ear and capacity to work in and across sonic spaces. Although a large part of his release is rooted in the bass house genre, his continuously evolving sound has been coined as a sort of catch all coined in his own words as “cinematic bass” and “music for the heavy-hearted.” His unwavering work ethic has led to a myriad of accolades in the short years since becoming active on the scene. In 2022 alone, longstoryshort made a guest appearance during Wax Motif’s set at Ultra Music Festival and eventually landed his debut festival slot at EDC Las Vegas in May. He is now gearing up for a string of show and festival appearances this summer, including Soundcheck in Washington, D.C. with Dr. Fresch, Downtown Grand with MitiS in Las Vegas, Blackbox with JOYRYDE in Charlotte, Freaky Deaky in Austin, and more to be announced. Full tour dates can be found below.

ABOUT LONGSTORYSHORT – longstoryshort’s brand of cinematic bass bears narratives that tell sonic stories. This is who longstoryshort is at his core: a creative who uses music as his conduit to tell stories. It’s no accident that literary language like “preface,” “chapter,” and “intro” has pervaded the titles of his EPs and their tracklists. Like words on a page, the vocal samples, toplines, drum kicks, and other elements that he uses never function as disparate parts. They are chosen deliberately, one by one, to fashion a narrative that is audible as a longstoryshort production. Longstoryshort’s redemption EP, released via Justus Recs on May 20, 2022, is an example of this approach that shows him to be in the business of crafting complete, concept-driven bodies of work. In short, redemption is the lens through which longstoryshort listeners, both new and established, can understand the project.

Beyond the release of redemption, 2022 was a year of accolades for LSS. He appeared at Ultra Miami, coming out during Wax Motif’s set, where they played their collaboration, “On The Low,” to the crowd at Bayfront Park. The single, supported by Tchami, Diplo, Don Diablo, and Afrojack, was the prelude to longstoryshort’s debut performance at EDC Las Vegas in May. In just three short years, he’s earned support from fixtures ranging from Dr. Fresch to Zeds Dead to Snakehips to Don Diablo to Doctor P to NGHTMRE to Kill The Noise and Tchami, while taking his concept-driven productions to a commensurately diverse collection of labels like Pilot (UKF), NIGHTMODE, Circus Records, Divided Souls, and Never Worry Records.
